The Spanish curriculum at Benfield is designed to build upon the students’ experience and enthusiasm of language learning at Key Stage 2.  At Key Stage 2 topics are chosen to support literacy across the curriculum and support language development across the primary subjects.

At Key Stage 3 we enthuse and engage our students, in addition to providing them with a sound understanding of the world around them through carefully chosen topics with appropriate content and grammatical structures.

Interleaving is a key factor in our curriculum design, aiding the progress of our students through our awareness of their cognitive load whilst still providing them with opportunities to be creative and become resilient learners by continually using low stakes testing as a means to reflect on their learning.

Overall, we are looking to engage and enthuse our students with a love of learning and a desire to become truly global citizens of the world, genuinely interested in and empathetic of other cultures and excited by the opportunities that language study can bring them.
