Design & Technology

D&T Curriculum Intent

Students use creativity and imagination in this subject.  They design, make, test and evaluate prototypes and products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts by considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. Students acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. Students learn how to take risks, becoming independent learners and resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable students. Through the evaluation of past and present design and technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.

Students work in a hands-on way to develop the core skills to make high-quality products. Students will have the opportunity to use traditional skills and modern technologies. The Creative & Media Award will help students develop the knowledge, skills and experience and could potentially open the door to a career in related industries.
